Chromate Conversion

Home / Chromate Conversion
Chromate Conversion coatings are non-decorative coatings intended to provide corrosion prevention when left unpainted. It also improves adhesion of paint and finish systems on aluminum and aluminum alloys. Chromate solution is applied to clean aluminum and produces a thin gel-like film which is integrated into the metal. This film provides a superior base for bonding of paints and adhesives. It also lengthens the life of the paint, forming an effective barrier against corrosive pores or scratches that may occur. This process is also known as Alodine, Iridite, and Chem.-film. Apex also offers a chrome-free conversion coating that is ROHS compliant.
